The installation “Sign of Hope” was developed by the art and design collective Primocollective as a substitute for “Magic Forest Lenzerheide 2021”, which had been canceled due to Covid. It serves as a sign of hope for the cultural industry during the pandemic. The installation consists of 109 light spheres, which seemingly float in chaotic formations in the forest. However, the elements are arranged so that the word “Hope” can be read from a single point of view. The light spheres are suspended from steel cables on trusses that are anchored between the trees. Our task was to derive an assembly system from the digitally positioned elements – consisting of rope lengths and position coordinates in relation to the truss axes. Additionally, we provided a set of instructions on a single plan for prefabrication and assembly. This plan had to contain all relevant information in a handy format so that assembly could be carried out without errors and in a short time even in adverse weather conditions.
