The brief was to design a surface pattern for the walls and counters of the Club in Freiburg, which opened its gates in early 2019. The pattern was supposed to match the client’s CI. Our design consists of triangulated faces, varying randomly in height, separated additionally by a thin joint. The pattern is non-repetitive and continues across internal and external wall edges. At selected locations, the otherwise randomized geometry adapts to the outline of the logo so that it appears unobtrusively. The joints between adjacent panels run along the triangular edges, giving the impression that the large areas are made of one single element.
Matthias Singer, from “507nanometer” developed an abstract video mapping for the main wall on the 18th floor which matches the exact 3D-geometry of the triangular faces.
